April 16, 1973: The James Paul McCartney special aired in the US.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u77RGk0G48c
In 1971, upon the release of Ram, the owners of Paul's music publishing over at ATV - Sir Lew Grade's entertainment conglomerate - took note of Macca's crediting his wife as co-writer on six of the album's eleven cuts, accusing the McCartneys of trying to pull a fast one by claiming *two* shares of the royalties, one of which was not owned by ATV: Linda’s.
A deal was struck between Paul and Sir Lew, and the James Paul McCartney special was produced for ATV, with all matters between both sides settled amicably.
Paul covers some Beatles' songs like "Yesterday", "Long Tall Sally", "Michelle" and "Blackbird". He also performs solo & Wings titles like "Big Barn Bed", "Heart Of The Country", "My Love", "The Mess", "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Live and Let Die" and some others. Paul also performs "Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance", a song he wrote for Twiggy in 1968.
No points for guessing that this, like other ATV specials at the time, involved Jack Parnell.

RIP Julee Cruise.
The singer performed famously in David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and also did a brief stint filling in for Cindy Wilson in The B-52s, which she described as one of the most fun experiences of her life.

Xanadu (1980) was a nod to the musicals of the 40s and the 70s, in the 80s.
This is also an easy-mode track in the Dance Dance Revolution video games, drawing a line into the 90s and 00s as well.
