Garrett Gilchrist has been an artist, feature filmmaker, writer,
film restorationist and editor for over twenty-five years.

Garrett Gilchrist wrote, directed, and edited the 2007 feature Shamelessly She-Hulk, which has over 36.7 million channel views on Youtube. He has illustrated for dozens of commercially-released video games. He has written novels, been a magazine writer, and created comic books, video games, and animation.

He spent eight years restoring The Thief and the Cobbler, an unfinished animated masterpiece by the animator of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It is perhaps the most complex restoration of any film ever attempted. Garrett also inked a tie-in coloring book. He also restored Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure (1977) in Ultra HD, and other works from the same director. He has been a guest animation lecturer at the Santa Monica City College and ASIFA-SF.

He graduated USC film school in 2004 and is a member of American Cinema Editors.

His research into (and restoration of) rare film and television media has had a foundational effect on fandoms across the internet since the 90s.

He restored the extended Super Mario Bros (1993): The Morton Jankel Cut. He restored hundreds of rare projects from Jim Henson's Muppets. He edited the influential 2005 documentary Star Wars: Deleted Magic. He created WhoSprites: the lost Doctor Who animation project.

He has written fourteen screenplays, articles for magazines, the comic book The Chosen Ones, a novel called Cratchit & Company, and Ragland (unreleased). From over five years he was a staff writer for Cinemontage, The Editors Guild Magazine in Los Angeles, interviewing Hollywood's top film editors. He has also written for ACE CinemaEditor.

He has been a voice actor and comedian, appearing on MTV. He pioneered colorization with EBSynth, DeOldify and Photoshop. He has done extensive work with ROMhacking and retro game design on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
