Many thanks to Trond Frittz, from Frittz's Brazil, who in 1997 scanned the original screenplay for the film, for online viewing. Here is his original introduction:
The screenplay - online for the first time ever! After endless searching for the screenplay on the
net, I decided to scan the copy I had, and put it on the net for the world to enjoy. This is an early
draft from 1983. It has many scenes that never made it to the movie, and comments to make it a bit more
understandable. I've tried to keep it as close to the original as possible within the limits of ASCII.
I've even kept most of Gilliam's spelling errors...
