"Give me Dr. Fred over George Lucas anyday! Garrett Gilchrist and the gang at Dr. Fred's Amazing Exploding Cow Show have made a movie that I have already watched more times than any Star Wars movie." - John Simpson, the Amateur Movie Database
"Not just amusing, but enough to make me laugh out loud in an empty room! ... I have to give kudos to all the primary cast ... a big high five to some truly amateur videomakers with a great sense of humour." - Jon Ashby, REwind video magazine
"I like this movie. No, I love this movie. ... My face muscles hurt from laughing so much and for so long. ... I stand by my word when I say that this is my favorite feature length amateur comedy ever." - Jared Hargrave, Rusty Hoot Pictures
"[A] confused and jumbled mess." - Film Threat
"The funniest movie I've seen in a long time ... There were so many jokes in the movie, you have to see it again and again to catch them all. ... I was extremely impressed with how talented and resourceful these guys were; when it came to sets, costumes, and music, they did it all." - Dan Gorgone, Random Foo Pictures
Every saga has a beginning. Every joke has a setup. By now, roughly the entire world knows about a certain "episode 1" movie made by a fellow named George. After creating a hugely successful trilogy and having no success elsewhere, he tried to create a new one, set before the first batch, and make it a big hit. He failed, but we here at Dr. Fred's Amazing Exploding Cow Show thought the prequel idea was a funny one. And before leaving for college [though not yet fame and stardom] we needed to toss together a new little movie to make us all feel better about ourselves. So here we are with Dr. Fred III: The Phantom Movie, which when we shot it in 1999 was by far our most ambitious project ever ... I mean, this thing was huge. It's still our most popular flick, and the first we ever did with amenities like a steady cast, a continuous plot, and meaningful locations. But not to worry -- these are there only to make the thing funnier. At 2 hours long it's the very first [and maybe the last] feature-length parody of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace," among other things.
David Ashe is Whis-kei Jinn, a drunken Fredi master with a taste for violence, gambling, and scripted humor. Justin Bielawa is his apprentice, Boink, an angry Irish gnome-in-training who speaks softly and carries a big gun. And against a backdrop of civil comedic war, they stumble upon a tale of a girl, a boy, and a random lobster. As this plot overcomplicates itself we will see them commit multiple felonies, travel back and forth in time, and thoroughly demolish the films of George Lucas. The cast also includes [in no particular order] Garrett Gilchrist as Annoying Bootlicker/Darth Hologram/Sta-Wa Jinx, Liz DiMenno as Queen Amadeus, Michelle Caruso as Smee, Niket Doshi as Darth Ass-Kick, David Brown as Leonard Cubbins, Ben Sipprell as Ford T-Bird, Dan Buzi as Captain Binaca, Greg Nicolett as a Sitcom Dad, Jerome White as himself, C. Talmadge Pearson as a warlord's roommate, David Marshall as the Queen's least favorite attendant, and Kelly Stryker, Sara Jeruss, Bethany Veerman and Michael McClenathan as the mime squad, all giving sparkling performances.

Characters from the original "Dr. Fred's Amazing Exploding Cow Show" cable access series take on the lovely but confused Queen Amadeus, the evil (but equally confused) Lord Hologram, the evil but sexually confused Jar-Jar Binks, the somewhat evil, confusing wise-cracking aliens Gerald and Ford, and the evil, non-confused Darth Ass-Kick. It all ends in a spectacular plastic swordfight. more ordering info |
