So, who wants to see the first ten minutes of my 2007-8 Marvel Comics feature "Shamelessly She-Hulk," with all the special effects completely redone for 2019? Except a couple of shots but let's ignore those for now.

And if you've never seen my 2007-8 Marvel Comics feature "Shamelessly She-Hulk," here's a nice shorter 21-minute reel of the most interesting scenes. With some new effects!

Shamelessly She Hulk (Marvel Avengers, Superheroes) Short Version

Doing the frame by frame roto animations in the Titania fight was a lot of work that nearly broke me, so apologies for the few shots still unfinished for now. I also redid all the greenscreen compositing, apart from a couple of shots. Often just focusing on getting her hair looking right.

Compare to the original effects, which are much blurrier and worse:

https://youtu.be/xyWUpA3bijI

The new Chromakey effects pipeline was time-consuming, but involved:

- Noise reduction via Neatvideo in After Effects

- A loose round of Chromakey to clean up the greenscreen and remove any shadows and stray elements (something similar was done on the original edit), turning the green screen into more of a flat color with soft edges.

- Another round of chromakey to develop a black and white matte, which was sometimes soft so that it wouldn't have jagged edges (this could later be color corrected to be sharper and more contrasty). Depending on the shot, extra layers were added so that important details wouldn't be lost, including adding back the fine details of her hair, which had been boosted to super-contrasy and noise reduced via Neatvideo. All the closeups of She Hulk had more details of her hair added carefully, resulting in a sort of glow around the edges.

This is partly a new edit of this Shamelessly She-Hulk scene. I had always struggled how to handle this part of the movie, since we never finished shooting the scenes between Bruce Banner and Jennifer Walters, where she gets shot. Bruce's actor was no longer available once we had cast Jen (and Jen and Zapper never shot anything from this scene either).

Much of this was Bruce's audition scene, so I've used the audition in the edit. At 2 minutes in, there's an interesting special effect which took some time. I used an AI process (over a period of several months) as well as Chromakey to remove the background behind Bruce and place him "outside." The background's motion was tracked in After Effects. There's also a short, previously unseen scene here with Monique La Barr as Jill, and some unseen footage of Zapper as well.

I've considered finishing this scene with doubles for the actors, and some voiceover, but never got round to it. This is a scene I'll probably continue to tinker with.

A small epilepsy warning when the gunshots occur.

Savage She-Hulk: Unstable Blood/Morris Shoots Jen (w/Zapper)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSEp26fyMTc

Finally finished the FX on this one. Lots of rotoscope to turn her green. Had to do mostly frame by frame work when she gets shot, probably because it's such dark footage. Oh well.

Photoshop for the rotoscope, plus EBSynth to generate inbetween frames (and sometimes After Effects).

Shot in Canyon Country in early 2007. It was very cold, Kierstyn froze half to death.

I see Youtube has already demonetized this as adult content. Thanks Youtube, not like I need to earn a living or anything.

(These videos constantly get flagged as adult content. She-Hulk kissing Zapper is too sexy for Youtube, it seems. I'd take it as a compliment if I didn't also need money to eat this month. Only one video of mine on this channel has ever made real money. You see why when the algorithm is purposely demonetizing these immediately on upload.)

(I had originally promised that I would never make any money off of this fanfilm, and Youtube has accidentally held me to that promise!)

(One of my Hulk videos was also hidden from Youtube forever and my entire account locked for 40 days because saying "Incredible Hulk" in the tags was supposedly misleading and a lie.)

A tutorial on how I do these special effects is coming next.
