I've added Jealousy to my extended Electra Heart era playlist. It's a strange one. A version was produced by Biff Stannard (of Spice Girls fame) for The Family Jewels but most of the song has a very "Electra Heart" feel to it, anticipating the Produced Pop feel of that album, and its "love gone wrong" theme. It was considered for "Die Life" as well but was cut from both albums. Like other "Die Life" tracks it feels inbetween TFJ and EH in tone (Miss Y, Scab and Plaster, Living Dead, Buy the Stars etc).

(Alternate caption: At one point, Marina and the Diamonds intended her second album to be called "Die Life." This became "Electra Heart," in character as the doomed pop star. The scrapped "Die Life" tracks tend to feel like a weird inbetween point between these albums, including Miss Y, Scab and Plaster, and this "Family Jewels" outtake produced by Biff Stannard of Spice Girls fame.)

This acoustic "FROOT," like the official music video, loses a lot of points from me for omitting the bridge verses. ("I'm your carnal flower, I'm your bloody rose" etc)

In mid-2010, a director filmed a music video on spec, set to Marina and the Diamonds tracks, without Marina herself. Interesting since there were no videos for "The Outsider" and "Are You Satisfied?"

So there's a new program called Spleeter which uses AI to separate the components of a song. Vocals, drums, piano, bass, and "other," for example. Obviously this is good for remixes. (I had my friend Alex run things.)

https://twitter.com/bluechoochoo/status ... 7298050048

I did some edits of Marina's Girls, Are You Satisfied and Karma including elements from their demos.

I started a Soundcloud, although only some of the tracks made it due to copyright. My edits of Girls and Karma didn't (I've reversed them so they're still here) - only the edit of Are You Satisfied?

This would also be a good opportunity to remix Marina's poorly-recorded early tracks (like Horror Pop, Plastic Rainbow and Daddy Was a Sailor) to remove obvious vocal pops and distortion to whatever extent is possible, although I have not attempted to do so. This is very revisionist, but the early Marina Garageband demos would benefit from re-recording the music entirely, and soaking any Marina vocals which distort too much in reverb and highpass.

Girls - Extended edit using additional verses from "Calm Down" and "Fast Car" demos. "Calm Down" vocals (filtered) are used over the album instrumental, while "Fast Car" sections use "Fast Car's" instrumentation as a change of pace.

Are You Satisfied? - Uses some (filtered) lyrics from the Myspace Demo over the album instrumental. Outro and one of the "Sad Inside" breaks use music from the Myspace Demo.

Karma - Intro, one middle section and outro are from Acoustic version (sped up slightly). Otherwise it's from the album. First chorus uses the "creepier" vocals from the Karma "90s Demo" (filtered) for "Oh my God I think it's Karma" only, over album instrumental.

Karma 90s demo is also sped up to 120% to more or less match the album version.
