Re: An MST3K Thing
A reminder of why people hate Jim Mallon -- I believe he's the only one making money off of MST3K releases (Bill Corbett has said they make nothing off of it), and he shut down Mike, Kevin and Bill's first post-MST3K project in 2005, The Film Crew.

A reminder of what those episodes were -- and that they almost didn't get released at all --

Re: An MST3K Thing
"The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has an article about the new reboot and listed the names of the new MST3K cast. There may be a formal announcement on the Kickstarter later today, but for those who’d like to know early:
Jonah Ray will be the new host, Felicia Day will be the new Mad, Baron Vaughn and Hampton Yount will voice Tom Servo and Crow, respectively."

At least one of those has been proven correct so far. Jonah Ray has been announced as the new host, Jonah Heston: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SO3Ati8ayYGarrett Gilchrist wrote:"The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has an article about the new reboot and listed the names of the new MST3K cast. Re: An MST3K Thing
About Patton Oswalt as "TV's Son of TV's Frank:"
Frank Conniff: "Only heard about it just now."
Phil Nelson: "Feeling real weird about the disconnect between mst3k alums and the new show. I wish Frank Conniff et. al. were at least involved somehow."
Trace Beaulieu: "You are not alone."
Benevolent Knievel: "I respect your and any of the rest of the originals feelings, while hoping you'd consider a cameo. Maybe on "Turkey Day"?"
Trace Beaulieu: "That ship has sailed."
Read #7.

Trace Beaulieu :
"Hey friends!. I got it wrong. Each time you purchase MST3K from RiffTrax WE ALL get a percentage. That is very cool and generous, don't you agree? This was a gift from RiffTrax. An unexpected surprise. Sort of righting the wrongs of the past. Very cool!"

Re: An MST3K Thing
"The old cast was sent to the glue factory." - Frank Conniff
"Oh, no, you got the glue factory? I heard I'm going to a big farm upstate!" - Josh Weinstein
"Patton, Jonah and Felicia are all great, so if I said don't support it, you'd be dumb to listen to me." - Frank Conniff
"I encourage you to support all the MST3K alumni riffing endeavors - MST3K reboot, RiffTrax, and The Mads (Trace Beaulieu & Frank Conniff)" - Josh Weinstein

Re: An MST3K Thing
Trace Beaulieu: "I have made it very clear from the start that I am NOT involved in the [MST3K] reboot. Anyone who says otherwise is lying."
John Kovalic: "And my heart breaks each and every time..."
Trace Beaulieu: "Yeah. Mine too."
Michael A Elsner: "I think the confusing thing for fans is that it seems like no one from the old cast wants to come back, not even for a cameo."
Trace Beaulieu: "Hmmm. Must be a reason."
HomeBrewedTeacher: "I get MST needs a new face & new blood but should involve the past as well."
Trace Beaulieu: "Maybe. I guess WE are all wrong."
HomeBrewedTeacher: "I truly hope that you guys will be involved once writing starts now that fundraising is done.
Trace Beaulieu: "That is not happening. We are not involved in the new thing. ... Not involved. Kinda not at all. Sort of never gonna be. That sort of thing."

It's rarely spoken about, but doing anything creative you run into "problem" people like this all the time.
