Reagan often used racially-coded language when he talked about welfare, and the poor. So when people talk about the poor being "lazy" I wonder how much of that is racially motivated. White people have been calling black people 'lazy' ever since slavery ended and they suddenly needed to be paid for their work. Before that, the stereotype was that slaves were machines who could work forever.

This is also why "tipping" started in restaurants and elsewhere, so that servers could be paid very low wages (today often about $2/hr), and get the rest from how well the people being waited on thought about them. In a deeply racist USA, this resulted in non-white workers being paid a lot less, legally ....

"This is a slightly old article, but it's still a crucial read: it explains the system of "White Socialism," which the US created in the 1930's-60's as a counteroffer to (Red) Socialism.
White Socialism" is the system of guarantees that Americans got for being "good citizens:" pensions and unemployment insurance via Social Security, employer-provided (and tax-subsidized) health care, education via the GI Bill, mortgages via Fannie Mae, and so on.
It was billed as the "anti-Socialism," but it did fundamentally the same kinds of things that Socialism did — provide a community-funded safety net so that everyone could afford to take more risks in their life, and have some certainty. But it came with one big asterisk.
The American social programs were generally funneled through one's employer (Social Security payments, health insurance, etc), which meant that access to them depended on being an employee in good standing: so people had reason not to organize too hard.
And as the name implies, there was one other condition for White Socialism: you had to be white to get it. Sometimes this happened quasi-officially, as with health care in which employers chose who got it, but most often it was de jure ..."

This is starting to look like our Holocaust. ICE, established in 2003 under Bush, is "losing" thousands of children. They won't see their parents again and are rumored to have been sold to human traffickers.

These children have been stolen. They are being flown from the Border to foster facilities in Manhattan in the middle of the night and then having their faces literally MASKED when they’re brought outside in the daylight. ICE don't want the parents to find their children via any photos that are taken.

https://www.dhs.gov/news/2018/02/15/we- ... safe-again

This article, at the official government website for the Department of Homeland Security, was written by a Neo-Nazi, as a signal to Neo-Nazis.

That should scare you. The author is not credited, but the article is full of Neo-Nazi signalling, with variations on "the Fourteen Words" and "14 / 88".

The title of the DHS article is "We Must Secure The Border And Build The Wall To Make America Safe Again."

This is a FOURTEEN-word title, and it begins the same way as the Neo-Nazi slogan "the Fourteen words" ... which begins "We must secure the existence ..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourteen_Words

The DHS article contains an italicized intro and then FOURTEEN bullet points, one of which goes unbulleted.

The second-to-last bullet point contains the number "88" for no real reason. 88 is a Nazi dog whistle for "Heil Hitler" (H is the eighth letter of the alphabet), and is often used in conjunction with 14.

The "88" occurs in the fourteenth paragraph of the article.

The article's title appears to be proposing an update to "The Fourteen Words," which were originally inspired by Hitler, but this time inspired by Trump and his wall.

Also: Last week, Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee posted a racist Tweet, with a photo attached borrowed from the website of Neo-Nazi leader Richard Spencer. Here's that Tweet:

A Republican Presidential candidate has not won more votes than a Democratic one since 1989.

Also, every election since then which has led to a Republican President has relied on extremely suspicious results in key states, such as Florida in 2000, Ohio in 2004, and in 2016 Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

The right wing narrative during this time is that their country has been "stolen from them."
