Varese Sarabande will be premiering the original soundtrack for Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas on Novermber 2nd. Hopefully, it won't be like their recent release of Guaraldi's score for It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (which was derived from a music-and-effects track)

From Amazon's About Info:

"The world premiere release of the soundtrack from the 1977 beloved Jim Henson produced TV special, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas. The show first aired December 17,1977 on HBO and features songs written by Paul Williams. The music is classic Paul Williams and Jim Henson magic. Fans have been asking for a release of the soundtrack for many years."

EDIT: Varese just put up samples for this, which to my ears sound pretty good.

"Please identify 1 filmmaker whose work you admire."

I will always admire Jim Henson, a man whose work showed boundless visual and verbal creativity and a desire to educate and make the world a better place. With The Muppets he redefined puppetry for the television age and created a new art form. He continued to innovate and challenge himself with every project, and before his death the Jim Henson Creature Shop had moved well beyond Muppets to fantasy and science fiction, and was at the forefront of special effects technology. Most or all of his productions for children were intended to educate and had a meaning beyond entertainment. Fraggle Rock was designed to promote world peace and ecology by showing how very different countries rely on one another to survive without even realizing it, and that we are all one world, all connected. Muppet Babies was about creativity and big dreams. The Jim Henson Hour was about technology and filmmaking. Dinosaurs was about the environment, and so on.

Sony seems to be putting out a Blu-ray of Emmet Otter on December 18th. As far as extras are concerned, it seems to be near identical to the DVD put out last year, only this time they're actually giving the option to watch the special in the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio as well as cropped widescreen. The special features:

Special Features:
Both Original 1.33 & Reformatted 1.78 Aspect Ratios
Fan Reflection
Behind the Scenes in Frogtown Hollow
Deleted/Altered Scenes
Outtakes
Lost Song: "Born in a Trunk"

I'm hoping for the first 1:33:1 release of the extended "Bathing Suit" song here.
