Kaleidoscope have found the Bonzo Dog Band Colour Me Pop special plus inserts. Exact contents/quality/formats unknown yet - it is a large batch of recording material but should include the entire thing.

When it comes to lost television and films, we all have our personal Holy Grails - stuff that no longer exists in full and which we've been wanting to see for decades.

This was probably my #1 and they've found it.

They are working on transferring it and cataloguing exactly what the contents comprise.

It appears to be a full telerecording, colour film inserts and a perfect quality 625-line VT clip of Mr Apollo.

Part of an enormous haul of stolen music related BBC stuff, loads of it on original VT.

"The 2" videotapes were covered in white dust, but looked in good nick. The film was in rusty old cans unopened since 1968-1970 and had lots of BBC labels. Some of the film is still being transferred because it's required more work due to dry splices or damage.
However, what we do know so far is that there is:
Colour Me Pop - six cans of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah material, most still to be transferred. So far the single can examined contains the colour film inserts of wacky poems and comedy moments.
Take One Plus One - untransmitted 1971 music pilot featuring Yes and Stephen Stills. Ex 2"
Strawbs - early pop promos circa 1971. Ex 2"
Beach Boys - Australian concert, not UK made. Colour film. I have been told by Australian collectors that this is a missing Beach Boys concert circa 1969.
Top of the Pops pop promos for Marmalade (several songs), The Kinks, two for Marc Ellingham, Bee Gees (Lonely Days) and The Tremeloes (Me and My Days). Some of these were made but may not have been shown if the record didn't chart. The Kinks one requires extra work before it can be transferred.
Disco 2 - animations used as backdrops for dancers to dance in front of Led Zeppelin and and Interlude tracks. Not sure what Interlude was? Perhaps it was a musical interlude?
There are still more cans to catalogue and transfer, but that's a very good start. There is one small can marked The Hollies / Colour Me Pop, but it turns out that was the Bee Gees pop promo and not Hollies material after all.
There is also a can marked Bonzo Dog that claims to be a complete telerecording of Colour Me Pop but that requires specialist transfer because of the quality of the film."

"Today Kaleidoscope officially announced that a complete monochrome copy of the Colour Me Pop episode with the Bonzo Dog Band (E25) has been found. An insert for this episode shot on 16mm colour film has also been found. Another five rolls of colour film, that appears to be footage shot of the Bonzo Dog Band, have not yet been identified.
All filmed on location in 16mm, and very probably shot by Colour Me Pop producer Steve Turner himself, the colour insert shows each member of the Bonzo's at home. Seen are Rodney Slater with his parrots, Neil Innes composing at the piano, Dennis Cowan having a lie down, Legs Larry Smith being mobbed by fans and having a drink in his favorite pub, Roger Spear at home in his workshop and at the dinner table with Mrs Roger & Son and finally Vivian Stanshall in his music room with his art and instruments, playing around with those silly cardboard balloons that the Bonzo Dog Band used on stage.
The sequence is narrated by Vivian Stanshall and each Bonzo gets his fair share from him. In the background two Bonzo Dog Band tracks from their second album are heard. These are instrumental versions of Rhinocratic Oaths and 11 Moustachioed Daughters.""

And it's not my copy?

And it's not available in the US!

(A filmed-off-the-screen copy sent to me by David Korr has previously been the only version of this film available online. I restored the material as best I could and also did a reedit using album music.)

What Bonzo Dog Band stuff was shown at the Missing Believed Wiped event tonight?

"The recovered Do Not Adjust Your Set which has them doing 'Ali Baba's Camel' and also a sketch where Neil Innes does an amusing turn as a piano teacher in drag. The Colour Me Pop presentation followed this started with the lengthy film insert of Viv introducing the 6 band members who are seen in their habitats while Rhinocratic Oaths and Mustacioed Daughters play in the background. Then audio of one of Rogers robots (I think) over a still photo, then the clips of Canyons, Spaceman and Apollo. Chris confirmed to me after than the complete telerecording containing the addiional songs was still being restored. I hope it can be presented at a future Kaleidoscope."

Wow, that's neat. And I doubt they used it.
