It's Moffat that's gone stale; him introducing a new Doctor when he can't even write recognizably different companions stings me a bit. If he creates the next Doctor, we could well have three/four more years of Moffat-style storytelling. Moffat also can't seem to keep his full attention on Doctor Who, which, budget considerations aside, contributes to them only producing a few episodes per year. He's been repeating himself and taking the series in directions inconsistent with the classic series.

Despite no announcement being made, I'd be surprised if Moffat and Coleman stayed on after Matt leaving.

She's gorgeous, but she was introduced as obnoxious, reintroduced as toned down, and reintroduced as a blank slate.

OPINION: In series 5, the Moffat episodes outshone some pretty weak episodes by other writers. The opposite has been true since, with the normal episodes being solid Doctor Who, and Moffat's finales and arc episodes annoying the living hell out of me.

We need less changes in Doctor and more changes in head scriptwriter. Both RTD and Moffat started out very well, but became increasingly repetitive and self-indulgent, showing quickly the limitations of their writing style. Life depends on change and renewal ....

I've always disliked Clara. The never-ending cocky wisecracks represent everything I can't stand about Moffat's characterising. Coleman doesn't bring much to the role either, she just makes it all the more smug. Though I will admit she's been toned down since her introduction, the wisecracks were all that was there in the first place, and now whenever she gets an emotional moment it just feels out-of-place and obnoxious.

Bayban the Butcher was a damn fun character.

I'm certainly looking forward more to the Big Finish 50th Special and whatever Peter Davison has them shoot in his basement.

Having seen Peter Davison's videos [with David Tennant et al] for the Gallifrey cons in Los Angeles, they were gold. I can easily imagine Tennant or other surprise guests turning up.

This is not a drill, people.

A weird rumor coming out of Bleeding Cool, with a source claiming "lots" of missing Doctor Who episodes have been found. Evil of the Daleks is mentioned in particular. It's clear that the guy is being overconfident, and that any rumor is exaggerated. But I wonder if there's any truth to it, that any further missing episodes have been found.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/06/13/ ... -november/

Wrightblan writes: "Rich is a longtime comic blogger who has worked for the BBC in the past. He's notorious for breaking stories and causing trouble in the comic world. Rich says he's got two good sources on this. If he's wasn't the one claiming this, I probably wouldn't give it a second look or post anything on it."

Missing episode finds don't work this way. "Lots" don't turn up at once. Very few ever turn up at all, in fact. And there are tons of missing episode rumors and hoaxes all the time, based on absolutely nothing. But there could be a kernel of truth to this.

Sadly that kernel of truth could just be that the Underwater Menace episode 2 has not officially been released on DVD yet ... it was found in December 2011.
