Re: Comics Thread
I haven't thought about B. Kliban in decades. A Gary Larson type cartoonist, you used to see his cats everywhere, starting around 1975.

Re: Comics Thread
So the webcomic Homestuck (mspaintadventures.com) updated today. (Part of) the joke is that none of this information is really new if you've been paying attention, but it's presented in a dramatic, over the top way. However, this page would literally be impossible to explain to someone who hadn't read all 7446 pages of the comic to date. It would take a whole day to even attempt an explanation, and no reader could really summarize this page's events out loud in any coherent way. Even if you've read all 7446 pages to date, you couldn't summarize this page coherently to yourself either - there's just too much going on to cover even one thousandth of what is happening here. And yet part of the joke is still how completely understandable and not surprising all of this is, if you've been paying attention. We understand. And that's interesting.
I'm referring to this page, btw:

Re: Comics Thread
"DC Super Hero Girls"
http://www.comicbookresources.com/artic ... -initiativ
Generic Disney Princess ripoffs, when other artists have provided more interesting possibilities -- they could have learned something from Super Best Friends Forever, or the Supergirl/Batgirl comics ...

http://cowshell.com/buffalog/wp-content ... omic03.jpg
And considering what Batgirl actually looks like in the comics these days, the Princess version is disappointing ...
http://www.fanboystalking.com/wp-conten ... otype1.jpg
It's nice that they're doing this at all, but I think it's too generic and bland to inspire any confidence. Maybe Marvel should step up and do it properly (though first they'd have to give a damn about their female heroes onscreen) ...
Wait, heroes? And they've got Harley and Ivy? Who are villains?
And who are the most interesting designs in an uninteresting bunch?
Hm.
I wonder how they chose the characters and why. There's no Starfire, Raven, Catwoman, Hawkgirl, Zatanna, Black Canary, Fire and Ice, Huntress, Mera, Big Barda, Dove, Crimson Fox, Firebrand, Star Sapphire, Power Girl, Vixen, Wildcat, etc ...
