A 35mm print of Raggedy Ann & Andy turns up on Ebay. KA and SS both have prints of the film - our 2007 preservation was of KA's print. But I've been meaning to do an HD preservation as well, transferring in New York. Hm. Anyway, here it is!

We really need to get the rights to this film for Blu-Ray release; it deserves it.

This is only a minor quibble, but: when you do the new scan, could you keep the Fox logo silent this time?

I'm thinking it was silent on KA's print because Fox often didn't include their fanfare on films which were negative-pickup deals and were merely distributed by them. Other examples I've seen of this include Mr. Mom, Buckaroo Banzai, and The Princess Bride.

A FOX logo without fanfare is like a day without fanfare.

Here's a mediocre cover of "Blue" by some guy.

Raw audio of reel 1 of Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure, from my own 35mm print. There's some sort of 70s fanfare before the film. Thanks to Helge Bernhardt!

Very crackly though, and there are missing frames at the beginning of the opening titles, during "I Look and What Do I See," and probably elsewhere.

Is there an MP3 of the Shining Time Station version of Home? The vocalist's name escapes me, but he does a great job of it. It makes me wibble. ;;

I haven't seen an MP3 of Riger Whittaker's version of "Home." I'd like one.

Here's Helge Bernhardt running reel 1 of Raggedy Ann in 2k HD ....

Very nice work on his part. The live action is in really bad shape compared to the KA print, and so is the reel in general, but I'm hoping that settles down a lot in the other reels. There's some pretty big chunks missing - different chunks than were missing in the KA though at least.

"Not bad for a raw transfer," he says. "Once the reels are cleaned it'll look much better."

For some reason, Aurora's website isn't updated with the newest dolls, though thankfully Raggedy Land has them all covered. It just kills me how adorable they are, though the eyes for the 7" and 8" dolls bug me. Couldn't they just let them have dot eyes instead of adding schlera? That'd be cuter. From the descriptions of the dolls, like the Americana and the Sentiments collection, it seems like they care far more about Gruelle's legacy than Disney for their own films (so many horror stories about the Blu-rays). :o
