I'd really recommend not using any low-quality workprint visuals, since otherwise the film is going to look as good as Blu-Ray.

I wonder if some scenes can be extended slightly by slowing down the footage in After Effects; I recall that it was really difficult to fit all the dialogue into the Aughra scene.

Lemme see about sending you the DVD audio; I'll have a look for it.

What are you editing in? Obviously the workprint audio has to be cut down to match the final film, with a dissolve on every cut.

I did a lot of cutting and dissolving between the audio tracks, as well as contanstly re-timing some scenes to match what the Ur-ru is saying, I think it's pretty obvious when some stuff is being slowed down and what's being sped up. I'm editing it in Sony Vegas.

Try After Effects for the speeding up and slowing down (if you're speeding up and slowing down visuals). Do you have a copy of my cut?

Yes, I'll get that.

I still want to see how your cut of that scene goes. Do you still have it?

:gopher: Thanks! :gopher:

Wow, my edit of the Dying Ur-ru scene is very similar to yours, only difference is one jump cut, the scene where he says ''A Gelfling must restore it to it's rightful place/You are that Gelfling Wanderer'' which were changed again in my edit, and the last few Jen scenes, which were changed to match your edit, as well as fixing the off-synch problem and add high-quality music/audio.

I remember in my edit, I had to composite in the crystal in one wide shot.

Good luck with the edit. You might as well do it now, you've got the Blu-Ray source. :)

Vangelis was indeed considered for the Dark Crystal Score, but that version is not present on this particular tape.

The 25th Anniversary DVD's color workprint scenes were probably taken from a complete VHS copy.

It's really not worth using video from the BGM Test Workprint; it's all awful quality.
