It is staggering that any conservative (especially the NeverTrumpers) still thinks that the GOP is reining in the extremism of the other side to prevent the economy from crashing, rather than the exact opposite being true. The GOP has crashed the economy every time and then lets the centrist Dems try to fix it, while hindering them in any way they possibly can.
The Democrats have ignored the left (and the poor and those under 40) my entire lifetime, bowing to wealthy corporate interests only, but the Republicans still call them Marxists, and NeverTrumpers do a lot of serious thinking and come to the same conclusion, because they've got shit for brains.
And I get it, to a degree. The Democrats are a centrist mess of a party who offer nothing to a lot of people and aren't all that exciting. Centrist Republicans should be embracing their bullshit though, and they don't.
I can't find it now, but Kamala Harris had some sort of plan which summed up the Neoliberal way so perfectly. I think it was offering a tax credit to people who had graduated college and bought a home and had a specific income and had worked in social work for five years and so on and so on -- it had so many caveats that you got the impression it would have helped five people in the entire country (if the bill even passed, which it wouldn't, because the Republicans have blocked all legislation which would help anybody for decades). So many Dems are like that. They offer "access to healthcare" rather than healthcare, just like in theory I have "access" to being married to pop sensation Marina and the Diamonds.
While I can't find that example (or anything as bad), her comments compiled at this website are illustrative of the basic principle:

Kamala's comments about federal housing programs really stand out when you take into account how impossible it is to actually get federal housing credit, or indeed any aid from the federal government whatsoever.
As someone noted about Joe Biden, he has dementia now and his brain is leaking out his ears, but he's stood in the way of progress his entire career so he can do it now just out of sheer muscle memory. Reflexively standing against health care in the middle of a pandemic. Reflexively accepting vote suppression tactics during a pandemic.
