Disney's ducks are well known overseas, with their adventures famously created by Carl Barks. They're largely unknown for American kids today, though. Shame. Certainly The Disney Channel went in, uh, another direction. As have comic books in general. Here's a Kids React to Ducktales:

Sadly, the comics by Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Patrick Block, Daan Jiippes et al don't get a mention ...

I think the image of Magica, and maybe The Beagles Boys, might be from Wayforward's recent remake of the first NES videogame by Capcom.

I had heard many people, including longtime Duck artist Patrick Block, lament how Duck comics get no attention in the US these days. This does hammer that home.

Looney Tunes and other classic cartoons aren't really in the rotation anymore either. It's significant that the kids only reference Scooby-Doo (which is still much-hyped by Warners for some reason) and Spongebob (still much-hyped by Nick). There's no reason for these characters to be forgotten, but here we are ...

Well over three years ago, a group of fans of the comic Homestuck (by Andrew Hussie) decided to animate the epic battle against the Black King (Rex Duodecim Angelus). Malcolm Brown's music for the battle was a highlight of the album Alterniabound, but the battle remained unseen in the Homestuck comic itself, only referred to in passing, mainly because it would have been a hugely difficult Flash animation to produce.
As indeed it was! The fans have stepped in with a nearly eight-minute animation. Sadly a lot of the artwork is amateurish stuff, not up to usual Homestuck standards, and really marks this out as a fan project. But there is also a HUGE amount of art in this video, and in general it really delivers. If this was a Flash animation included in the comic itself, it would be a major fan favorite. Its ambition rivals Cascade.

The fact that Homestuck fans are now doing their own flash walkthrough games is ... interesting.

Discussion of the creation of Batman. What's not noted here is that Bob Kane's early Batman work shows heavy signs of awkward plagiarism as both an artist and writer - meaning he wasn't much good as either.
