Happy Birthday to Ellen Greene! To celebrate, here's a video exploring the evolution of "Somewhere That's Green."

I finally made a new video on my personal channel! It's a reaction video, so watch it before the Fine Bros light me on fire.

Personal: I was finally able to put together a good recording set up and I'm getting back into the swing of making videos! I've reformatted "Quick Thoughts" and did a quick review of Disney's Into the Woods. I'm really happy with it and I hope everyone enjoys it. :)

Disney Ashman Demos: For years, I've been wanting to re-upload the original Rosewater demos to DAD, and in preparation for the upcoming Encores! Off-Center production, I have! ... C-Gf2VL7WT

i've also uploaded clips from the 2003 Cooper Union concert of the shop here. (I think I'll upload the full show soon.): ... eqVoPTKtnG

I finally got a good, solid copy of "Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue" and had the chance to upload clips of Ashman and Menken's magnum opis, "Wonderful Ways to Say No," including a clips of the duo's original demo Menken released on his website. ... IZjLRukNM4

I was bored one day and decided to spend it syncing up Kerry Butler's 2003 reading demo of Part of Your World to the film. (Or, as I like to call this recording, "Somewhere That's Dry.")

Sierra Boggess was on the Theater People podcast recently and talked about Mermaid. I uploaded that section, syncing up her included recording of "World" to press reel footage from the show.

I was able to find a good copy of the 59th Oscars and, after some slight restoration, I uploaded Levi Stubbs' performance.

It tends to happen when your main computer is a laptop and you usually have to go to work about 3 hours before your shift. :P

The video I've been working on wasn't finished for Sunday, so I decided to remake a previous Quick Thoughts and make it about Fantasia. For a video that I threw together in about two hours, I'm pretty proud of it. It even has some composite work, a first for my channel!

I ended up going down a YouTube rabbit hole last week and came across a promotional interview / performance of Good Morning America with Glen Keane, Paige O'Hara, and Alan Menken about Beauty and the Beast. Alan and Paige sang the title song, and I had to upload it to DAD.

Last but not least, to celebrate the release of Stephen Lynch's newest special, I polished up my LMW article about his unreleased, 2010 special. ... ncert_Film

Quick Thoughts: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
After I listened to the "This Is Rad" episode on the Power Rangers, where everyone acted as if the first movie was supposed to be the next Citizen Cane and not a chessy, insane, over-the-top kids action movie, I, a person who grew up with this movie on a loop and still loves it to no end, decided to make a video on it from the opposite point of view.

Hoskie Rambles: The Fantastic Beasts Script! Is Money Grabbing a Bad Thing?
I decided to go back to the vlog format to see if it was something I could do to help me keep on schedule, and made a video about how the publishing of the "Fantastic Beasts" sceenplay is a bit of money grabbing, but it's not the terrible thing people made it out to be. I'm visibly nervous and unsure of myself, but I feel with a little practice and more time with it, I can turn it into something. (Let me know what you think of it. I want some actual feedback on it.)

Hoskie Reacts: DAT MUSIC DOE! - The Beauty and the Beast Teaser Trailer
The Beauty and the Beast teaser came out, and the first thing I did when I woke up was do a reaction video. Basically, I just really want to see the movie.

Dracula Extended Cut - Opening Scene
I figured out how to import M2V files into Premiere, so I've been working, on and off, on an extended cut of "Dracula," by using the English film as a base and editing in any interesting, cut, and extended bits from the Spanish film. Here is the opening carriage scene.

Quick Thoughts: Pinocchio
For a while, I wasn't comfortable with my channel focusing mainly on Disney stuff, but then I realized I should embrace it and decided to do a video on one of my favorite Disney films, and what I consider to be the one DIsney film closest to perfect, Pinocchio.

Mikey's Quick Bitch: Ghostbusters (2016)
For a couple years now, I've jokingly referred to the angry, resentful side of me as Mikey, and I've always intended to use him as a character at some point. With Ghostbusters out, and all the backlash, I decided to finally unleash him. I think I need to soften him up a bit, but I'm pretty happy with the video and I'm probably going to use him where I can.

God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater - 2016 - Encores! Off-Center Highlights
The Encores! Off-Center production of "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" happened, and, luckily, a few highlights videos were released. I took all of the clips, stitched them together, and put them in chronological order for a 7 minute highlight reel.

Taylor Swift - Teardrops on My Guitar - “Dixie Chicks” Demo
This year marks 10 years since Taylor Swift burst out onto the music scene, so I decided to celebrate and do a recording sync. Here is a demo with alternate lyrics she recorded for "Teardrops on My Guitar," likely recorded when she was 14, with the sole purpose of offering the song to Dixie Chicks, who turned the song down.

I also caved and created a Facebook page.

It's been 7 months, and I still have trouble with posting and with how everything's set up. Also, with "Boosting," Facebook proves once again that it was made by the devil.

Because of the release of Beauty and the Beast, as well as a few other things that have come into my peripheral, I’m reminded that most reviewers and film fans treat their opinions of a film as gospel, leaving no room for discussion or counter arguments. Anyone who likes a film they don’t like is an idiot. The same for anyone not liking a film they do like. They don’t leave room for the person at the other end to form an opinion of their own.

I want to do the opposite. I want to present a film with all of its faults, and all of its strengths, whether I like it or not. I want to try to understand why someone would like it, no matter how awful – I’m looking at you Phantom of the Opera – and why someone wouldn’t like it, no matter how amazing – I’m looking at you, Les Misérables. I want to present my point of view, but still leave the discussion open. I want to be that positive, understanding voice in a world where more positive, understanding voices are desperately needed.

With that said, I don't know if I succeeded in that effort, but here's my Quick Thoughts review of Beauty and the Beast. I hope you enjoy.

Because of The Fabulous Crusty (one of my favorite YouTubers), and because Google is making some questionable choices with YouTube, I've decided to create a VidMe account. Because I truly have no original thoughts of my own anymore.

I also decided to make an account for Disney Ashman Demos to upload any videos I have copyright problems with. As such, here is the recent Chinese music video for "Beauty and the Beast," sung by Chinese singers Hebe Tien (田馥甄) and Jing Boran (井柏然), with English subtitles based off an English translation of the lyrics by Moricrosis:

by Garrett Gilchrist's a bit low quality, isn't it?

I used to use dailymotion as my go-to for stuff youtube wouldn't touch - when it was low quality as well. Dailymotion then became just as copyrighty.
