Nickelodeon Retrospective

By the Way- Ultra-rare/lost Nickelodeon show from 1979, Intro & Host Segments.

Pinwheel was Nickelodeon's first program, and at first its most important, taking up much of the day's runtime with a Sesame Street-like vibe. (Hosted by George James, it originally ran on Columbus, Ohio's interactive cable network Qube, as a 12-hour block, and the Nickelodeon version was originally 5-hour blocks or so, padded out with short films.) Like the also-rare Hocus Focus, By the Way was from the same team, and appears to have been a dumping-ground for short films that didn't fit in on Pinwheel.

From the creators of the first Nickelodeon show Pinwheel. Brad Williams, Jim Jinkins (Doug) and George James also worked on the short-lived Hocus Focus. Thanks to Jinkins for actually keeping and sending in an episode of it.

I was called an asshole today, and caused some small controversy, for correcting someone on Twitter who claimed that the last hand-drawn animated film from Disney was Oliver and Company (1988)

Why should I worry? Why should I care?

Do you have the workprint to The Hunchback of North Dame? If you do, I want it to make a comparison video on it.

I do not.

Future Mickey Mouse Club host Fred Newman arrives in Poparena's Nickelodeon retrospective, as Livewire replaces the similar America Goes Bananaz.

Fred Newman was also Puppetman, in Jim Henson's pilot, which didn't go to series.

He wrote the book "Mouth Sounds" and worked on Doug and Between the Lions.

I don't normally do requests. I believe the ones I had are circulating.

Nick retrospective, in which Dynaman ends up on Nickelodeon briefly, long before Power Rangers.

The reason why I wanted the workprints so I can do comparison videos on the animation to the final film. One example that I made: https://twitter.com/animation_buffs/sta ... 53121?s=20

Here is a soundtrack compilation for the 1983 Nelvana animated film, Rock & Rule.

It was previously believed that no official soundtrack album had ever been issued for Rock & Rule. However, as it turns out, a handful of film critics received a cassette tape featuring nine songs ("Hot Dogs and Sushi" and "Send Love Through" were omitted). All songs are extended from how they appear in the film and in familiar copies.

This is the ever first release of these versions of the songs that I'm aware of. Four or five songs appear here in versions not previously heard.

We received decent stereo audio of "Angel's Song" and "My Name is Mok" from this cassette, but the capture is much lower quality and in mono for "Triumph," "Invocation Song" and "Pain and Suffering."

I have done my best with the material, editing it together with the versions heard in the film (here from a 5.1 mix). The film's surround channels were used to omit some dialogue and extend "Hot Dogs & Sushi."

I have also included the movie versions of the songs (newly edited), and the versions heard on the original cassette. The first versions of "Angel's Song," "My Name is Mok," "Triumph," "Invocation Song" and "Pain & Suffering" that you'll hear on this disc combine both the film and cassette versions into one edit as best as possible.

"Born to Raise Hell," "I'm the Man," "Dance Dance Dance," and "Ohm Sweet Ohm" have been officially issued on CD, and appear here from that source, along with an alternate version of "Pain and Suffering," and "Maybe For Sure" (an alternate version of "Angel's Song").

EDIT: After a lot of experimentation I've redone "Pain & Suffering" [in two versions] and made some changes to "Send Love Through."

Hello people! I registered an account here so I could share my remastered version of "Invocation Song" using the raw mono source from the cassette. (I used the .ac3 as a reference to try to match the sound after splitting the mono track into stems and then mixing those back down to a stereo track.) I really just did it for my own enjoyment and thought some others here might appreciate it, especially since I couldn't really find a remastered version anywhere else online. Anyway, here's a link to a folder with a .wav and a 320kbps .mp3

That is REALLY nice. Though it's worth stressing that the mono cassetes are slowed down by 4%, so they're lower pitched than they should be.

You're doing one for Triumph and My Name is Mok too?
