Commenting on a thread about Song of the South:

"Tar baby," "Zip a dee doo dah," and so much of the rest of the film can't be separated from the "minstrel show" culture that was already dying out at the time, where white performers mocked black culture and painted an idyllic view of what things were like before the Civil War. The optimistic, Disneyfied, idyllic, backward-looking South presented here could be seen to fit in with that as well. I don't believe the film was intentionally mean-spirited but it is a product of its time, and inspired by cultural references that have thankfully been staked in the heart a long time ago now, thanks to the civil rights movement of the 60s and beyond.

I did some restoration and editing work on the first few episodes of the 1967 anime "Golden Bat." Working from a rare Italian DVD provided by Hailey Lain, I slowed down the footage to its original speed and restored the original Japanese opening and closing. Hailey then did the same to the entire series of 52 episodes.

Episodes 1 and 2 are now out on the internet with English subtitles, for the first time ever. More are coming, I'm sure! Especially if anyone can translate them.

Classic animated ad from Tony White. Would like a better quality copy on this one.

"Thanks to Joanna Quinn for finding an online link to this award-winning commercial I directed, with Richard Paul Burdett and I animating, for Joanna's CDP Aspect creative director father back in the mid 1980's. Dean Yeagle did the designs (so wonderfully) - and this commercial was actually how we first met! (Animator's note: I based the boiler dance on the Elvis moves in 'Jailhouse Rock'!) " - Tony

I never saw the song added to later versions of The Lion King.

It's awful. Wrecks the scene George Lucas style.
