The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut Mk4 is now also available in 10 ZIP file pieces, for anyone who had trouble downloading the full version as one file.

Some of the usual misinformation, but a lengthy scene by scene review of both the Miramax and Recobbled cuts.

I dunno if this has been observed before, but the version of the One Eye Camp piece in the Calvert workprint seems to be an alternative stem or channel of the regular version instead of a separate take.

Interesting. It's a plausible explanation for why the recording is similar but different (although I think any recording would have been at the same tempo). It works well enough that I wish I'd done that in the Recobbled Cut.

You may have seen these rushes of apparently unused live action reference footage, a chaotic session with Richard Williams improvising scenes with a child actress playing MeeMee and YumYum, and himself playing Bubba and Nod (probably). Two reels were saved from the trash.

I spoke to Helge Bernhardt awhile back, who has archived these 16mm reels and was planning to transfer them in HD or 4K. So that will happen at some point when he has the time.

Helge has also archived several prints of Raggedy Ann & Andy 1977 if anyone can acquire/figure out the rights so we can do that on Blu Ray legally. (A certain someone who runs a DVD company has been trying to figure the rights out for years.)

In 2013/2014 I started but never released a restoration of (most of) Errol Le Cain's The Sailor and the Devil short film (1967). Due to lack of money I had to focus on other things, and that's still true. I posted the VHS, unrestored, to Youtube, but since the VHS was so noisy and grainy, the noise-reduced restoration looked miles and miles better.

I did colorize a Sailor and the Devil clip from Helge Bernhardt's transfer of the Creative Person 60s documentary about Richard Williams:

A Latin American dub of Arabian Knight was titled "El Zapatero Magico." Another Spanish dub was titled "El Zapatero y La Princesa" and is more common.

There is a French dub, "Le Voleur et le Cordonnier," and a Korean dub titled something like (욤욤)공주와도둑. I never bothered to round up some of the dubs myself.

If you like this sort of thing, I'd like to say briefly that I (and Helge for that matter) have been in a very broke financial state the last few years, and it's prevented me from doing a lot of cool stuff that I'd like to be doing. I live in Los Angeles and if anyone has any leads, if you think you could get me a job, do let me know about that.

Hey Garrett,

I would like to start off this message by thanking you for all the blood, sweat and tears you've poured into the restoration of this breathtaking film. I have fond memories of watching the early Recobbled Cut back in 2007 and just recently returned to find the Mark 4 and all of its stunning improvements contained. Your painstaking restoration process has opened up an entirely new side of the animation industry to me, one which I've grown fascinated (and, if I'm completely honest, obsessed) with.

I have a question regarding the Thief and Cobbler scrapbook torrents. Would it be possible to provide and alternative download link? Most, if not all download links to bonus content that have been provided over the years are no longer available as of today. I'd genuinely love to see the contents of the purchased Thief portfolio.
