Great to see that Neil and Eric are going through the same door again and an interesting article...

Neil and Eric are very much at odds these days. The footage in question is from 2003.

Ow damn, I thought it was a recent article. They could have put the date at the top of the article and I should have known better...

And yes I read they are on very bad terms these days. Apparently earning moneyalot with Spamalot doesn't make a Python happy ;)

A Rutles press conference I shot in 2000 -- or was it 2001, as marked here --

Hi Garrett,

Do you know if the scripts are available or if there is a sort of content overview for the DNAYS series 1 + 2?
I have found some info but about series 1 only very scarce and about series 2 no info whatsovever.

I'd have to check, but for series 1 most of the episodes obviously survive in full (1-2, 5-6, and 9-13), with two episodes surviving afterward (Do Not Adjust Your Stocking, and an episode with the Bonzos performing "Beautiful Zelda," which survives on video, unusually.

I seem to recall a script or two from the series getting out there on the web - one featuring Ali Baba's Camel.

Squidy:
"In 2003 the BFI had camera scripts for episodes numbered 1("Happy Boxing Day and a Preprosterous New Year), 4, and 12. Think I typed them all up."

Here also is show 12, courtesy my website a few years back.

And here is show 4:

And a Monty Python script while I'm at it.

I also recall that a few recordings of the Bonzos' songs from the series are out there (via the "Charity Shop Tapes" found by Simon Young).

Many thanks for the scripts Garrett. Much appreciated. Odd that Ali Baba's Camel hasn't surfaced so far. Episode 4 is said to be the winner of the Prix de Jeunesse in Munich and was repeated because of that in July 1968 subtitled the "Fairly Pointless Show". Weird that this episode seems to be lost somehow.

Bonzo Dog (Doo Dah) Band: The Adventures of Son of Exploding Sausage (1969)

Restored PAL version by Garrett Gilchrist.
The Bonzo Dog Band drive into the country in a truck, unload their equipment in some woods only to find some of it taken away by some children. They eat and play at a party, and the Bonzos play a number of instrumentals in a stable yard, including `Rockaliser Baby’, `We are Normal’ and `Quiet Walks and Summer Talks’. At the end they are driven away in a white car. Note: No words are sung. Featured alongside the Bonzo Dog Band are the children Amanda, Jennifer and Ashley Lees, Edward Roebuck, and Olivia Smith.

Remembering Bonnie Rose today -- who with Laurie Wieland ran the NeilInnes.org website, introducing a lot of people including myself to Neil Innes' music and work. Bonnie was also an animator whose work appeared on The Colbert Report, and in the film The Seventh Python.
