If you were watching dubbed anime and other cartoons on Italian television in the 80s, you were often treated to new theme songs devised by "Superband," also known in other configurations as "Superobots" and "Rocking Horse."
While the group members changed based on what was needed, Douglas Meakin remained a core member and still tours with "Superobots" today. He had known Ringo Starr when a schoolboy and a sort of solo-Beatles influence is often evident. Italian fans are happy to hear him reenact their childhood with themes like "Fantaman."
(Even Hailey is going to think I'm nuts for going this far down the rabbit hole, but here --)

Re: Recommend one song.
In the 90s, Kerri Kinney (of The State, Reno 911! and so on) had a punk-y band called Cake Like, with Jody Seifert and Nina Hellman. I can't say I'm a fan, but here's a 1997 video, directed by David Wain and featuring her Statemates, including Ken Marino.

(Nina Hellman also turns up as an actress in most of David Wain's comedies.)
The aesthetic is so perfectly 1990s. Whenever nostalgia gets round to inaccurately caricaturing the 90s the way they do with the 80s now, I wish they'd look at stuff like this and take notes, rather than looking at two popular things from the time and adding glitches.
