The background and sprite graphics on NES use four colors including transparency (or background color). So a sprite can have three colors, and backgrounds can have three colors plus the background color. In Super Mario Bros 2, three of the player characters have an extra sprite for the whites of the...

Re: The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut Mark 4
There's a few cases where Calvert animation is being replaced, but this is mostly based on Williams boards and work. (There were always a handful of Calvert shots which weren't up to standard enough to be used. I've changed my mind about a couple of them this time, in either direction.) I also made ...

Re: The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut Mark 4

Re: Animation Thread
These comparison screenshots of the unfiltered Fleischer Superman footage are, according to the reviewer, much better. They're not. The unfiltered footage is worse in most cases, and only a little too filtered in others. It's hardly a hack job. Too filtered but basically fine. The different color gr...

Re: The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut Mark 4
LM points out that there is a pencil test shot (in low quality) in the early Calvert "Needs" workprint, after the Thief is shot with arrows on stilts in the war machine. It's of a conveyor belt. There is a similar (finished color) shot in the KA reels, finished well before the WB production.
