"This movie was a wonderful mess, a poetic piece of puke, a brilliantly conceived bowel movement. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen or my hand off the fast forward button (though the temptation never was realized) It was long, seemingly pointless, but at the same time was an experiment in humanity and some sort of something brilliant [though] the boring parts were painful ..."
- Mike Stoklasa, GMP Pictures

"If you want to see an interesting experiment in psuedo-doc, micro-budget movie-making, check out Orange Cow Productions' 'The Animal Game.' It's a very untamed mixture of comedy, eccentricity and, in spots, pure tension."
- Jason Santo, Pangaea Films

Have you been watching too many horror movies lately? So had the former cast of Dr. Fred when they set out into the woods to create "The Animal Game," a strange tale inspired by all those low-budget, high-profit slasher flicks shot from the point of view of the director's single camera.

A somewhat disturbed teenage director has invited three friends over to appear in a movie. But he has no script, and will tell them nothing, only rambling endlessly about the failure of evolution. Over the course of a very long night they will push each other to the very brink of madness.

The cast themselves had a few problems, seeing that the movie was actually recorded in one night, in realtime, with no script and very little preparation beforehand. The result was the infamous 5-hour rough cut, an unclassifiable whatchamacallit which later became the even more infamous 3 1/2 hour "director's cut." A 2 1/2 hour version has now been released (and can be ordered from us), yet still the desired 2-hour cut needed to fit on a normal-length tape eludes editor Garrett Gilchrist. Although frankly as Larry would put it, those of you without the attention span to sit through 2 1/2 hours of this movie probably won't be able to sit through 2 1/2 minutes of it.
